Critic tasting note: (2000 vintage) "A particularly hot and early harvest produced a bold but not very elegant Sassicaia. The color is an intense, ruby-garnet and the bouquet is ethereal and a bit alcoholic with aromas of black cherry preserved under spirits, sweet spice, tamarind and underbrush. The mouthfeel is warm with a strong initial impact that dilutes a bit in the finish." - 88/100, Doctorwine

Expert tasting note: "Deep, dark ruby-red color but not opaque. The restrained, brooding nose has meaty touches, then reveals juicy raspberry & boysenberry aromas. The palate has dense, yet elegant, fine tannin. Fine cedary oak & vanilla are well-integrated with lively red-fruit. The wine has excellent acidity & rich red-fruit that balances the alcohol. There are raisin, sweet-licorice & chocolate notes on the back-palate. The finish has dusty tannins & a saline hint." - 04/24 (ep) DCAMW
